Week 7: Particle Effects
This week the team continue to work to complete the alpha. With some of the feedback from the play test, we try to reuse some of the problems that were brought up. This week the team focus on with more level design, enemy models, and some effects.
My contribution for this week At the start of the week, I started modeling the enemy model. For the enemy model, we are trying to go for a blocky looking style which is fitted with the environment that we as going for. After that, I created the bones and rig the enemy model so the group member could animate the model and be put into the game. Next, I worked on the special effect in the game. the first special effect I did was the sword swinging trails. For this effect, I went through many different tutorials with the particle effect and the trail renderer. However, it doesn't really create the effect that we want. So we went through some tutorial with the custom script to create the weapon trail. Next, I try to do an effect where the player will leave a trail of the previous movement for the dodging animation for this one, I did it with a custom script with particle systems. Next, I created the magic attack bullet with the particle system and the barrier material with a custom shader. Finally, with the level design for the level one done, I recreated the level in Maya. Together with the project manager, we did some discussion on how the environment would look for the first Level, we modify some part of the level to make the level more interesting for the player.
For next week we will continue to focus on creating more level for the alpha as well as some bug fixes and combining all the assets together.
