Week 5: Playtesting
This week’s focus was to complete the playable prototype and the playtest. For the playable, the team was able to complete most of what we planned to do. We completed the environment, character attack animation, the interface, and multiple stages of bullet hell. for the playtest sessions, we have selected 3 different player types from the school. For each of the session, we were able to get some constructive feedback from the play testers. Outside of the bugs in the game such as the getting stuck with the edge of the box collider, the play tester feels the game is very interesting and looks forward to the final completed game.
My contribution for this week: My main task this week is to complete the environment of for the play test. In Maya, with the assets from last week, I combined all of the assets together to create the environment. After I completed the environment the team thinks the background environment is quite lacking so I quickly created some environmental piece that is placed in the background to create the background scenery for the player to see. After the environment is completed, I helped the programmer to import the environment into Unity. In unity, we started to mess around with the lighting with the different light source and intensity. We also did some quick test before we do the play test. Some of the problems we found were the player can easily get stuck on edge, so we edited the code a bit to reduce the amount of time that it would happen. In the play test, as a ground, we did the playtest with the participant and took note of their comment and feedbacks to further improve the game.
My task next week is the create some particle effect for the sword swing and the effect of dodging or dash for the character.
