Week 4: Preparing for Playable Prototype
The playable prototype one for this project is due very soon, the team’s focus is to complete what is required for the playable. For the playable, the team plans to have some basic movement for the character such as running and jumping… etc. And some prototype interface for the game including health bar, option, and weapons. For the environment, we will have 2 sets of them. One being the simple shaped environment indicating the lost of memory and the other being complex architectures indicating recovery of memories. For the gameplay component, we plan to have the bullet hell in the playable prototype just to showcase and test out its mechanics since many questions have brought up about the gameplay of bullet hell.
My contribution for this week: I think this week is quite productive for the progress for the environment. My task this week is to create as much asset for the environment as possible for the playable. In Maya, I refined some of the models which were created previously and created new ones for the environment. I created multiple pillars for the architecture to create a variety so when the player in the game won't feel like they are seeing the same style of the environment over and over again. Furthermore, I put all the assets together in Maya to get a feel of the environment and see if the assent need further editing. I also ask the team to see what are their thoughts and suggestions. So far the team really like the environment so far and the project leader is quite satisfied since it was very close to what he envisioned for the environment to look like.
Next week. I will continue to create more assets in Maya for objects such as doors, walls … etc. I will also look into some texture or color that will fit the environment.
