Week 1: Proposal and ideation

This week is the game proposal week for the course. For our proposal, we have proposed a real time action adventure game called Noah’s Memories. In the game, we wanted to create a game that contains action and some puzzle solving together similar to the legend of Zelda and dark soul. The game’s narrative will be based on our main character Noah trying to retrace and recover his lost memory in the digital world. The player will have to go through different puzzles and enemies to recover each of the lost memory pieces.

My contribution this week: This week, I participated in multiple meeting for the game concept and proposal. I contributed that it would be interesting to have an adventure style game like the Final Fantasy series. Most of the group member felt this a great idea and agreed to move on with the adventure style of gameplay. In addition, I also suggested that we could use a chibi style character for the game since there is a time constraint for the project and chibi is able to reduce a lot of the detail on the model which makes the progress much more efficient. However not all of the member agreed with this idea, they really wanted to stick with the more realistic style for the character model. In the discussions for the environment, since I am the level designer and modeler for the group, I help to discuss the doability of the environmental modeling and how some of the mechanics can be fitted into the levels. For the modeling components, I helped to do some concept model of the environment with the team leader and discuss how we can implement as assets into unity. I also participate in making the head for the main character.
